ArtPlantae.ComPractical Botany for Artists
This site was created for anyone with an interest in drawing plants. This site features an Artist's Herbarium, an Art Library and a Science Library. The Art Library lists reviews of botanical art books, exhibit catalogs, videos and other resources. The Science Library lists reviews of botanical references and field guides that will assist artists in learning more about their plant specimens. Join the ArtPlantae Mailing List to receive Artists' Botany. This bi-monthly newsletter will keep you informed of site updates and will introduce you to botanical artists and resources from around the world. American Society of Botanical Artists
The American Society of Botanical Artists, Inc. (ASBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting public awareness of botanical art and to encouraging the development of this continuing artistic tradition. Incorporated in February 1995, the ASBA is open to all artists and others interested in furthering the development of botanical art.
Botanical Art Society of Australia
BASA has been formed as a non-profit organization to foster and promote the development of botanical art nationwide and to bring together people who have a love of plants and of the botanical art form.
Botanical Artists' Association of Southern Africa
The Botanical Artists' Association of Southern Africa (BAASA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting public awareness of botanical art. BAASA is open to all botanical artists, whether scientific illustrators or realistic flower painters, as well as collectors and those interested in furthering the tradition of botanical art.
Society of Botanical Artists (UK)
The Society of Botanical Artists founded in 1985, has been much favoured in its advent, gaining Members from all over the world to combine, for the first time, the worlds of art, science and horticulture.
Alliance for Historic Landscape Preservation
An inter-disciplinary professional organization which provides a forum for communication and exchange of information among its members. It is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of historic landscapes in all their variety, from formal gardens and public parks to rural expanses.
Gardens
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute
Offers programs in the study of the natural world as expressed in art, writing, photography, book arts and fine art crafts. Its philosophy is "Conservation Through Education of the Arts." The Institute offers certificate, Class With A Master and elective programs. The six-week certificate program specializes in the fundamentals of botanical and wildlife art. The Class With A Master program specializes in workshops conducted by nationally and internationally renowned instructors, invited to share their creative expertise in writing, photography, fine art, book arts or fine art crafts.
American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta
The AABGA is the professional association for public gardens in North America, supporting the public horticulture community in its mission to study, display and conserve plants.
Berry Botanic Garden, Portland, Oregon
The Berry Botanic Garden, continuing the legacy of Rae Selling Berry, promotes Northwest native plants, maintains special plant collections, conserves native endangered plants, and offers related educational opportunities.
Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation
A research division of Carnegie Mellon University, specializes in the history of botany and all aspects of plant science.
The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens
The Huntington Botanical Gardens span nearly 150 acres. Approximately 15,000 kinds of plants from all over the world make up the botanical collections, many landscaped into a series of theme gardens. Landscapes include the Japanese, desert, rose, camellia, palm, subtropical, jungle, lily ponds, herb, and Australian gardens. Specialized displays include the North Vista, the Zen and bonsai courts, the art gallery rockery, the desert garden conservatory, and many more.
Los Angeles County Arboretum
The Arboretum of Los Angeles County is a 127-acre public garden oasis made possible through public funding, private donations and diligent fundraising efforts. It is jointly operated by the County of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation. Launched in 1948, the nonprofit Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation has supported horticultural research, wildlife and botanical conservation, as well as provided educational services to garden patrons in its more than 50 years of operation.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
On 3 July 2003 the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew was officially inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Kew's History & Heritage website allows you to take a journey through time, meet the people who shaped the gardens, explore the fascinating places, and discover some of Kew's heritage plants.
