Julie Schneider Ljubenkov
Julie Schneider Ljubenkov is a native southern Californian. She credits her childhood, playing in the vast open spaces of a once wild, beautiful and rural Los Angeles county, as what influenced her to become a naturalist, and a painter of the landscapes and native flora of California.
Julie received her Bachelors degree in Art and a Masters of Fine Art in Drawing and Painting from California State University Long Beach in 1985. Today she teaches botanical watercolor, drawing, and landscape painting at the University of California San Diego and at Mira Costa Community College.
Also a naturalist and a botanist, Julie recently had her botanical research published by the Southern California Botanists in their scientific journal Crossosoma. Prior to that, Julie worked for many years leading interpretive nature walks in the deserts, mountains, and seashores of Southern California. Today she shares this knowledge of our natural heritage by offering classes on how to use native plants in our gardens and in our landscaping.
