Tania Marien has been studying botanical art since January 2001. Hopelessly left-brained, she is especially drawn to scientific illustration and the sharing of information through art and science. Tania received an Interdisciplinary Studies master's degree (Biology and Student Learning) in 1997. She has studied botanical art and illustration in the Botanical Illustration program at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia, as well as at the Botanical Art Institute of San Diego in Vista. Tania served as editor of the Southern California Botanical Artist from its launch in January 2002 through August 2005. In September 2005, she became the Guild's Events Editor and now reports on botanical art news and events, as well as assists in updating the BAGSC website. Tania is the founder/editor of ArtPlantae.com--Practical Botany for Artists and its e-newsletter, Artists' Botany. The media Tania enjoys learning about the most are graphite, pen and ink, carbon dust, colored pencil, and gouache.
