Cauliflower, The Huntington

Vegetable Garden

BAGSC Quarterly Meeting
and Ranch Garden Project
Members Only, March 14, 2026

Our meeting on Saturday, March 14 at The Huntington will focus on our Ranch Garden project; The Huntington will use our art for signage in the garden. This will be an all day event, from 9:30 am to 3 pm. Unfortunately, due to room restrictions, we are limited to 30 members, so BAGSC members are encouraged to RSVP early.

We will begin with a brief business meeting and announcements about upcoming workshops and exhibition opportunities, followed by a short discussion about format and composition for paintings for our Ranch Garden project at The Huntington. The remainder of the day will be devoted to creating preliminary sketches or developing our paintings. You are encouraged to bring the watercolor paper or substrate of your choice, along with your favorite drawing and painting supplies—this is your day to work on your project. The Huntington will provide us with vegetable and botanical specimens from the garden, and you may work from your own photo references. Please bring what you need to work on your piece. Some of our award-winning BAGSC artists will be available to offer guidance on composition and technique.

A complimentary lunch will be provided for all members who RSVP. If you could fill out your RSVP form before Monday, March 9th, that will help with our lunch order. There is no cost to members for the Quarterly Meeting, or to enter The Huntington that day.

We are limited by the Huntington to 30 members so we suggest you RSVP early!!

We would love to see what else you have been working on recently, so please feel free to bring along any botanical art or sketchbooks you would like to share with the group.

PARKING

Saturday, March 14 will be a busy day at the Huntington and carpooling is strongly recommended. Please let the parking lot attendant know that you are there for a meeting event at the Brody Science Center and they will direct you to the most convenient lot. A second parking attendant near the entrance can give you directions for pedestrian access to the Brody Science Center; look for our BAGSC helpers, who will guide you to our meeting room. Please do not go to the front entrance—please go directly from the parking lot to the Brody Botanical Center.

We are looking forward to painting together in the Brody Lab on Saturday, March 14th. This will be a great day to reconnect with fellow botanical artists and start spring with new inspiration. We can’t wait to see you!
