BAGSC’s Privacy Policy & Collection of your Personal Information
We care about your privacy and safety. The Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California (BAGSC) is a chapter of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), and, as such, adheres to the Privacy Policy of the ASBA. In addition to the BAGSC Privacy Policy below, please review the ASBA Privacy Policy at: http://asba-art.org/privacy-policy
This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California. It applies to the BAGSC website, https://bagsc.org and governs our data collection and use and services; it does not apply to other online or offline sites, products or services. Personal information of all users is collected, used and disclosed as described in this Statement of Privacy below.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
The BAGSC website is based on a WIX platform content management system. WIX is as serious about your privacy as we are. Their privacy policy for use of their programming can be read here: https://www.wix.com/about/privacy
The BAGSC website is an e-commerce site, and collects personal information such as your name, email address, home/work address and phone number. We only collect information you voluntarily give us via membership in ASBA, email or other direct contact with us for the purpose of fulfilling your membership benefits and online purchases. We will not sell, rent or lease the information you give us to anyone without your specific permission. We will not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.
Whenever you contact us (for example, with a question) we will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization without your express permission. You have the right at all times to access and correct your personal information and privacy preferences.
We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf. We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information and are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.
BAGSC may access and/or disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on BAGSC or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of BAGSC, including its website; or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of BAGSC or the public.
Personal information collected on this site may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which BAGSC, ASBA or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities. By using this site, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country. BAGSC abides by the safe harbor framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.
Access To and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do any of the following by contacting us via the Contact Form on our website at https://www.bagsc.org/contact:
-
See what data we have about you, if any.
-
Change/correct any data we have about you.
-
Have us delete any data we have about you.
-
Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
You may update, change, and delete your personal profile information on the BAGSC website, and/or request assistance updating, changing, or deleting your information by using the Contact Form listed above or by contacting the BAGSC Membership Chair. Information changed on the BAGSC website does not change any information or preferences on the ASBA website. The ASBA must be contacted separately to change any information. BAGSC receives information about members from the ASBA on a regular basis. Members who do not update their information on the ASBA website may find their prior, unchanged information subsequently downloaded to BAGSC again. It is the responsibility of each ASBA/BAGSC member to keep their information and preferences updated in ASBA.
Some of the information BAGSC collects and stores (for example, your name and email address) is vital to enable your access to the “Members Only” area of our website, as well as other services. If you do not wish to provide information, you may not be able to access some of the areas of the website, receive email blasts, or receive some services.
Security of your Information
BAGSC is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures as contained in the WIX platform to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
When we transmit highly confidential information (such as a credit card number) over the Internet, we use the WIX secure payment gateway to protect your information.
Updates
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. All updates will be posted on this page. We encourage our members to please review privacy policies frequently for all the websites they visit.
If you feel we are not abiding by this privacy policy, you should contact us immediately.
Cookies
We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on your computer when you visit a site. Cookies help us improve access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. Cookies also can be used by websites to track and target the interests of visitors. When we use cookies on our site, we do not link any personally identifiable information about you from our site.
The WIX payment platform enables individual users to securely “save” their credit card information for ease of checkout for subsequent purchases. BAGSC does not save credit card information. Your credit card information may be accessed by the WIX payment gateway if you are receiving a refund on any purchases from the BAGSC website.
If you do not want to save your credit card, please be sure the box “Save card details for next time” (located in the Details checkout window) is unchecked (make sure the box is white instead of blue) before you click the “Place Order” button.
