Ballpoint pen can be used to create drawings with very subtle or very bold shading. In this demonstration-only class (you will not be creating work during class), Denise Walser-Kolar will discuss supplies and works done in ballpoint pen. You will learn techniques for creating ballpoint pen drawings with a range of shading. There will be time at the end of class for questions. The workshop will be recorded—Denise has generously agreed to allow us to video this workshop demonstration so those who are unable to participate on the day of the live event will be able to view it later. Everyone who signs up for the workshop will have access to both the workshop and the recording.
Materials List
Please note: this is a demonstration format workshop only. You may draw along if you choose, but we will not be reviewing or commenting on participants' work.
The materials list for this workshop is very short—other than the drawing and transfer materials you usually use, you will need:
-
Arches Watercolor Block, Hot Press. Denise prefers the 12" x 16" size

-
Caran d'Ache black ballpoint pens. Denise has two pens so she can use a fine point refill in one and a medium refill in the other. The pen holders come with blue ink, so she orders black refills and switch them out.

Pens and refills are also available on Amazon, but Denise prefers to support Caran d'Ache directly!
