About the Event

BAGSC Members only: All BAGSC members are invited to our next quarterly meeting on June 8 at 11:30 am. Our very special guest will be Sarah Morrish. Please note the change in time from our usual schedule to accommodate Sarah’s teaching schedule and international time zones.

Sarah is a renowned artist, illustrator and sought-after teacher specializing in pen and ink. She’s a member of ASBA, the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society, and a Fellow of the Linnean Society.

Her book, published in 2021, Natural History Illustration in Pen and Ink is a definitive compendium of pen and ink history and technique. Find it by ordering from the publisher by clicking here, or order from Amazon or your favorite online or brick-and-mortar bookseller.

A note to all from Sarah:

"I look forward to joining you all on the 8th June. I will be sharing an overview of my artistic journey and the important part that ecology has played within it and continues still to do so. Then I will share with you my thoughts on the place of pen and ink in present day botanical art; the different ways that I use pen and ink; materials and equipment; as well as demonstrating some of the techniques I utilize. The subject for the demonstration will originate from the Pedunculate oak/English oak Quercus robur and may well include some Oak galls. There will also be time for Q&As.”

You can view Sarah’s work on Instagram at illustrating_natures_details and view her portfolio here.
