About the Event

The Orchidaceae family is the largest in the plant kingdom with over 28,000 species in roughly 763 genera and can be found in every continent in the world, except for Antarctica. Learn how these fascinating plants have cheated, lied and stolen throughout the last 120 million years to survive the test of time.

Presented by Brandon Tam, Orchid Collection Specialist at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. Brandon oversees one of the largest orchid collections in the United States and one of the most diverse orchid species collections in the world, which has grown from 2000 to over 10,000 plants in the past ten years.
