Saturday Morning Coffee with Julia Trickey
Time & Location
About the Event
About our presenter:
Julia has been painting botanical watercolours since 1998 when she joined an adult education class in South London. She is particularly drawn towards less-than-perfect specimens — dried flowers and fall leaves — often depicting them larger than life.
She now tutors classes in the beautiful historic city of Bath and beyond, as well as exhibiting regularly. Julia has exhibited internationally, has work in collections worldwide and has received numerous awards for her paintings, including four RHS gold medals.
Julia will be joining us from the United Kingdom to talk about her “two little books”, COLOUR and LEAVES, available in her Etsy Shop at: juliatrickeyart.etsy.com.
In her book COLOUR, Julia includes three pieces of acetate which she will explain how she uses them for color mixing and matching. For her demonstration she will pull an example out of her book LEAVES to demonstrate how to paint a primrose leaf.
(BAGSC note: If you would like to follow along with a live specimen, Julia has confirmed the primrose we normally find in our local nurseries resemble a polyanthus, hybrid of a primrose. While her specimen in the demonstration of her English primrose may differ slightly, Julia tells us the leaves are similar. “Absolutely appropriate.”)
After her demonstration, Julia will take questions about her books, demonstration and her Etsy Shop.
Please visit Julia’s website for more information and registration for her classes and Botanical Talks with Artists Series. Her upcoming talks include conversation and demonstrations with Mary Dillon, Sarah Morrish, Ann Swan, Carrie Di Costanzo and more. https://www.juliatrickey.co.uk/
