Sundance Plumeria, LA County Arboretum

BAGSC Summer Quarterly Meeting
Arboretum Tour and Workshop
Members Only, June 13, 2026

Our meeting on Saturday, June 13th at The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden will focus on the Arboretum's upcoming Plumeria Festival (July 17-18), where BAGSC members will have an opportunity to exhibit their tropical botanical art and sell cards and prints. The Quarterly Meeting on June 13th will be an all day event, from 9 am to 4 pm, if you choose to participate in the meeting, tour and workshop.

Due to room size restrictions, we are limited to 30 participants, so BAGSC members are encouraged to RSVP early.

We will begin with morning refreshments and a brief business meeting in the Palm Room, including announcements about upcoming workshops and exhibition opportunities. The Arboretum tram will be waiting at 10 am to take us to the Tropical Gardens, where we will receive a tour from Curator of Living Collections Jim Henrich. Lunch from the Peacock Cafe will be served after we return to the Palm Room, and we hope to welcome the Arboretum Librarian, Leena Waller, who can provide an update on her work archiving a collection of botanical works by Charles Broughton. After lunch, local artist and BAGSC member Cristina Baltayian will lead a mixed media workshop using watercolors and colored pencils, with an Arboretum plumeria as her subject. A materials list and photographic reference from the Arboretum's Plumeria Collection will be provided to registrants; members who can't make the meeting can access photos upon request.

Complimentary lunch and tram ride will be provided for all members who RSVP. Please reserve your spot by filling out our registration form before Monday, June 1st. There is no cost to members for the Quarterly Meeting or to enter the Arboretum that day.

We are limited by the Arboretum to 30 members so please RSVP early!!

We would love to see what else you have been working on recently, so please feel free to bring along any botanical art or sketchbooks you would like to share with the group. Our favorite part of Quarterly Meetings is bringing BAGSC members together and letting the art shares and conversations flow!

PARKING

Saturday, June 13th will be a busy day at the Arboretum and carpooling is recommended if that option works for you.

We are looking forward to exploring the Tropical Gardens and painting together in the Palm Room on Saturday, June 13th. This will be a great day to reconnect with fellow botanical artists and start summer with new inspiration. We can’t wait to see you!
