The Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California is a community of people with the common interest of botanical art and plants. We are a large community, spread out from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Have you ever wondered how you can meet with other artists who are members of BAGSC or local community members who have a shared interest in botanical art?

Clara Josephs wondered the same thing. She knew there were members of BAGSC that lived in her community. Clara reached out to a few of those artists and invited them to her home for an afternoon of botanical art. Soon, The Orange County Local Painting Group was formed. The group enjoys afternoons of art, community and lunch. At the most recent meeting the group worked on renderings of wild cardoon thistles, magnolia leaves and pods. They shared a delicious lunch of Jack's pasta salad, and Kathy Sanchez's tasty pumpkin bread.
The Orange County Local Painting Group meets monthly, usually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Clara Joseph's home in North Tustin. They welcome friends and neighbors who have an interest in botanical art. For more information on joining The Orange County Local Painting Group or to ask Clara for tips on starting your own local painting group you can send questions by going to the BAGSC website, scroll down to "contact" and send a message:
You can also find Clara's contact information and other members of ASBA and BAGSC who may live in your community on the ASBA website. Log in and go to "members features." In the drop down menu click on members directory. In the search criteria click on Chapter and choose Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California, then click "search". The BAGSC members directory will pop up.
