Plumeria and Tropicals of the Los Angeles Arboretum

BAGSC Exhibition July 2026
 

Join us in exploring the Plumeria Grove and Tropical beds at the Los Angeles County Arborteum & Botanic Garden as the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California depicts "Plumeria and Tropicals" for an Exhibition in the Arboretum Library in July 2026.

BAGSC members are encouraged to create new work or submit finished pieces that depict either plumerias or tropical plants. Ideally the plants depicted will be from the Arboretum's collection. Members may use the plumeria reference photos below or visit the LA Arboretum and work from any tropical plant they desire... Any part of the plant is acceptable, flowers, leaves,  whatever inspires you. Reminder: while visiting the Garden, do not cut any plants.

The Plumeria grove at the LA Arboretum boasts over 100 beautiful trees thanks to the volunteer effort that Diana Donnellan started in 2014. She has kindly provided BAGSC with photographs to view and use as references to create artwork from. Scroll down to see the fantastic plumeria blooms!

Diane and Jack also have generously offered any of the images to be used for reference or for your artwork.

More information about the exhibition is coming, including exact dates for the exhibit and due dates for the finished paintings. Watch your email and the website—we'll be updating with more information and images as it comes in.

Reminder: while visiting the Garden, do not clip any flowers or leaves.

Depict any or all roses or parts, including buds, flowers, wilting flowers, bare root, thorns (technically "prickles" botanically-speaking), and hips. Help us plan the exhibition!
