The opening reception of 20 paintings by BAGSC artists, entitled "Artists' Favorites: An Exhibition at Mt. San Antonio Gardens" was held June 2nd. The afternoon began with a presentation that included a brief history of botanical art and discussions of the paintings in the exhibition.

The presentation was given by Beth Higbee and included an informal discussion of the paintings by members Beth Stone, Patricia Mark and Diane Daly. A viewing of the paintings followed with the residents of Mt. San Antonio Gardens. Many of the residents, who are artists themselves, commented positively and enthusiastically on all the work. Many commented on Olga Ryabtsova's Bonsai Pomegranate Tree, painted in oils and Deborah Shaw’s Morton Bay Chestnut in watercolor. There was much appreciation for the amount of time that goes into completing a botanical painting.

Other artists in the exhibition are: Diane Daly, Akiko Enokido, Patricia Mark, Terri Munroe, Gilly Shaeffer, and Beth Stone. The exhibit will be on display in the Mt. San Antonio Gardens Gallery until July 27th.
